Meet 22-year-old Harry our Electrical Engineering Apprentice, who joined us in November 2019. Harry applied for his apprenticeship with us after studying A-levels in geography, business, and sociology. He was keen to learn engineering and wanted to have a hands-on learning experience which he felt the apprenticeship was perfect for.
This apprenticeship is only the start of his engineering career and education, as he actually wants to go on to study for a degree in Electrical Engineering. Harry can usually be found on the shop floor with his mentor Tony who would soy "Harry is a nice young man; he is progressing really well with his studies at college and when he's on the shop floor he is a good learner and is able to pick up most things quite quickly. With the combination of his knowledge from his co-workers and from his tutors in college Harry enjoys the variety of aspects of electrical engineering that his role entails from changing electronic components, paint and poly, repairing electronic faults and working on new build units". This apprenticeship is Harry's first introduction to engineering and has been so invaluable that it has propelled him to continue and to pursue a career in the industry. He loves the environment here at Atec and feels motivated and encouraged by the other engineers. "I am currently really enjoying my apprenticeship; I especially enjoy the new challenges and I am looking forward to what the future has to offer".
